Construction Health and Safety Technician

Advance your career on-site — the CHST validates your expertise in construction safety management and sets you apart as a trusted professional

The Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST®) certification, offered by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), is a globally recognized credential that demonstrates technical expertise and professional competence in construction safety management.

This certification is specifically designed for individuals who work at the site or field level—those who implement and monitor safety and health programs rather than design them. It validates your ability to identify hazards, evaluate risks, and ensure compliance with occupational safety standards in dynamic and high-risk construction environments.

Construction work presents unique challenges such as working at height, operating heavy machinery, confined spaces, and managing subcontractors. The CHST program ensures that professionals have the practical knowledge and technical judgment required to prevent incidents, promote a strong safety culture, and support effective decision-making on construction sites.

Holding the CHST credential establishes you as a qualified safety professional who demonstrates not only technical knowledge but also leadership in promoting safe work practices, ensuring worker protection, and contributing to overall project success.

Globally respected by employers and safety organizations, the CHST certification is an essential stepping stone for those pursuing advanced credentials like the Certified Safety Professional (CSP®) or aiming for leadership roles in construction safety management.
